Dena joined Equinox from Indiana, where she completed her Masters of Landscape Architecture from Ball State University in Muncie. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources & Environmental Science from Purdue University. Dena’s passion for environmental education led her to the creative outlet of landscape architecture, as a means to help re-connect people to their landscape. As a LEED AP Landscape Designer at Equinox, Dena has a working knowledge of design as well as natural systems.
Dena is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accredited professional
(LEED AP) and has joined Equinox to enhance their ability in the evaluation, selection, and use of sustainable construction materials. Dena helped research many concepts and ideas in the recently published book, Materials for Sustainable Sites, by Meg Calkins. Her professional interests also include park and open space design, educational and interpretive landscapes, cultural landscapes, healing and therapeutic gardens, and native planting design.
In her free time Dena enjoys yoga, traveling, and exploring the outdoors of North Carolina.
