Place of Origin: Jim moved to North Carolina in the late 1970s by way of Massachusetts, California and New Jersey
With over 30 years of experience in planning and research, Jim has a broad background in watershed assessment, water quality planning and other water resource fields. Jim has worked on dozens of water resource projects throughout North Carolina. His areas of expertise include: watershed and water quality analysis and planning; sediment and stormwater impacts; assessment of aquatic habitat and stream morphology; water quality monitoring; and the development of plans and management strategies for restoring and protecting aquatic systems. Jim has a Master of Environmental Management degree from Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment and a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Jim spent ten years with the North Carolina Division of Water Quality, where he was responsible for developing and overseeing a statewide watershed assessment program and conducted a variety of water quality studies and modeling projects. Jim served on the Watershed Needs Assessment Team, an interagency group convened to develop guidelines for assessments conducted by the North Carolina Ecosystem Enhancement Program.
