Steve is a partner in the firm and has been with Equinox since 2000 and serves as the Ecology Services Group manager. One of Steve’s greatest passions is working to protect and restore the natural resources of our area. His roots run deep here in the Southern Appalachians and can be traced back to the late 1700’s. In 2008 Steve donated a conservation easement on his 115 acre farm located within a mile of the Over Victory Mountain Trial in southern McDowell County. As a farmer and landowner, Steve’s local knowledge and sense of place have proved valuable in community education, outreach, and establishing long-term cooperative partnerships. Professionally, Steve’s educational background, training and extensive experience in all types of field conditions gives Equinox a strong practical understanding of aquatic ecosystems, wildlife habitats, environmental monitoring, and natural resource protection. Steve is experienced in stream morphology, intermittent/perennial stream identification, watershed analysis, aerial photographic analysis, natural resource inventories and habitat management. Steve is also fluent in GIS analysis and mapping.

Steve is married to his wife Cheryl and they have two dogs Zuko and Jolene. Steve is an avid outdoorsman that enjoys Hunting, Fishing, Biking, and Hiking; anything to be in the great outdoors.
