Place of Origin: Born on Long Island, New York; raised in upstate New York near Albany.
Jim recently joined Equinox after a 30 year career with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. After 20 years as a fishery research biologist where he conducted numerous fishery management studies, he most recently held the position of Watershed Enhancement Group Supervisor. That was a state-wide position in which he was responsible for the development of the Commission’s stream restoration program and in coordinating land acquisitions for the Division of Inland Fisheries. These activities were aimed at the protection and enhancement of aquatic resources and habitat. Jim has a Master of Science in Zoology with a concentration in fisheries science. In addition to being a certified fisheries scientist by the American Fisheries Society with strong research experience, Jim is also a graduate of North Carolina’s Public Manager Program where he obtained skills that will be valuable in developing and managing projects for Equinox. Jim also has training and experience in watershed planning and geomorphological processes. He is also knowledgeable of North Carolina’s stream mitigation programs, having been a member of the Program Assessment and Compliance Group Technical Committee associated with the North Carolina Ecosystem Enhancement Program and the interagency work group currently revising the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers stream mitigation guidelines document.
